Guldborgsund Kommune and GARBE Data Centers have announced plans to establish a large-scale, sustainable data center campus in Business Park Falster. The project reinforces Denmark’s position as a northern European hub for sustainable digital infrastructure and innovation.
The proposed facility will cover approximately 35 hectares with a potential investment of up to DKK 20 billion. When completed, it will be among the largest data center projects in Europe. The campus will include up to nine modular data centers with a total capacity of around 350 MW, designed to serve both hyperscale and enterprise customers. The project is expected to generate substantial local economic growth over the next decade.
“This is the largest land sale in Guldborgsund Kommune’s history, and it marks a huge step forward for our municipality,” said Mayor Simon Hansen. “It will strengthen local employment and establish Falster as a key part of Denmark’s green digital future.”
From the investor side, GARBE Data Centers emphasized Denmark’s strengths as a stable and sustainable location for digital infrastructure.
“We see Denmark as one of the most attractive and reliable locations in Europe for sustainable data center investment,” said Ulrich Marx, Managing Director of GARBE Data Centers Europe. “The Business Park Falster site offers an ideal mix of infrastructure, renewable energy and regional collaboration.”
Henrik Hansen, CEO of Datacenter Industrien, noted that the project underscores Denmark’s international reputation in digital infrastructure: “This announcement underlines Denmark’s continued strength as a destination for responsible, large-scale digital infrastructure. It is a clear example of how international investors see Denmark as a safe, stable and sustainable location to build and operate high-performance data centers. We are particularly pleased to see a strong focus on renewable energy, heat reuse and community integration.”
